Put Up Your Dukes! It’s FIGHT CLUB 2 #1!

Now this is pretty damn great people. Author Chuck Palahniuk is following up his hugely popular book/movie FIGHT CLUB exclusively as a comic book with the release of a 10-part miniseries simply called FIGHT CLUB 2. Palahniuk is joined by Cameron Stewart on art duty creating a truly memorable duo for this bold new project. I have to give the guy some credit, he sees that the comic book medium is extremely valuable and admits that it’s the best home for this story to continue and evolve. I’m impressed. Take a look at what we can expect from issue #1 with this nifty synopsis from Dark Horse Comics:

Set ten years after the ending of Fight Club, Part Two’s story will be told from the restrained perspective of Tyler Durden as he sits in the subconscious of the Narrator (or Jack). The Narrator continues his dysfunctional relationship with Marla and has fallen into the mundane routine of society until Tyler re-emerges to cause chaos.

If you haven’t read the book yet shame on you. I’m sure you have seen the film, but if you haven’t yet shame on you again. If you have read and/or watched FIGHT CLUB…pat yourself on the damn back because you win. It’s a wonderfully crafted story that displays Palahniuk’s skills to their fullest…with CHOKE (another of his novels/films) coming in at a close second place for awesomeness. Either way, FIGHT CLUB 2 is a unique and interesting direction and is hopefully a trend we see more of as movies, tv, comics, and video games merge together more into a hugely unified pop culture landscape.

So read or watch (why not both!?) the original FIGHT CLUB (again) and get ready for what is likely to be one wild ass ride in FIGHT CLUB 2 #1 out this week at your local comic book retailer. This is going to be fun!
