Marvel’s GENERATIONS Mini-Series Begins!
Even though Marvel’s current mini-series event SECRET EMPIRE is still going strong, they’ve decided to release yet another big event called GENERATIONS. Sure…why not?
Marvel’s GENERATIONS will consist of 10 one-shot issues featuring a team-up between a classic hero and their modern day counterpart. While solid details about where Marvel is going with this are still shrouded in mystery, it does spin out of the pages of SECRET EMPIRE and the effects of each story will affect the modern books.
The first GENERATIONS one-shot lands this week and features Bruce Banner’s iconic version of Hulk and the modern day Amadeus Cho Totally Awesome Hulk.
BRUCE BANNER. AMADEUS CHO. Both have carried the curse of the Hulk. Now they come face-to-face at last - but will they meet as friends or foes? Fan-favorite Hulk scribe GREG PAK is joined by red-hot artist MATTEO BUFFAGNI (X-MEN BLUE) for a time-bending tale that will finally answer the question on everyone’s minds: WHO IS THE STRONGEST ONE THERE IS?
While this concept is intriguing, I’m not 100% convinced it’s necessary. And while I do like a lot of the newer iterations of iconic characters (your Jean Grey!), I still feel Marvel should have the coexist with their legacy counterparts rather than replace them. Marvel seems to have trouble realizing that most of their fans just want iconic versions of their favorites. It’s ok to have these new versions because they are all pretty cool, but nothing beats the original. I’m looking at you original Cyclops. I miss you so much…
At the end of the day, GENERATIONS definitely looks fun and I’ll be reading it. And while it’s not the return I was hoping for, I’ll take what I can get.
Other GENERATIONS books coming out between now and the end of September include:
Generations: The Iron / Tony Stark and Riri Williams
Generations: The Spiders / Peter Parker and Miles Morales
Generations: The Marvels / Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan
Generations: The Thunder / Odinson and Jane Foster

Generations: The Phoenix / Jean Grey (young and older)
Generations: The Best / Logan and X-23
