DOOM PATROL #7 Is Finally Here!
To make a very long story short, DOOM PATROL has been around since the 60′s, gained a lot of popularity thanks to Grant Morrison’s run, and has popped up from time to time ever since. The title celebrates being unpredictable and weird and I think no matter what type of DOOM PATROL fan you are, chances are you’re often confused while reading. And that’s just fine.
After taking some time off, DOOM PATROL is back as part of DC’s “Young Animal” imprint giving readers something a little more unconventional, mature, and risky than what you may find in a typical BATMAN and/or SUPERMAN book. DOOM PATROL is a perfect fit for Young animal, and now is one of the best times to jump onboard!
DOOM PATROL volume 1 has already hit selves consisting of issues #1-6 from writer Gerard Way and artist Nick Derington. While I’ve been reading these issue by issue, I can admit that reading them back to back in collected form is the way to go. Sure, nothing makes any sense still, but I felt I understood what was going on a lot better reading these back to back.
And after a brief hiatus, issue #7 is here to keep the party going.
How have you been, Niles Caulder? The Chief is back, and he’s ready to reshape the new Doom Patrol to be just like the old Doom Patrol-a prospect not everyone is happy with. But the team’s former leader hasn’t grown less manipulative in his old age, so nobody make any rash decisions. Pretty sure he’s up to something. Michael Allred (iZOMBIE, Silver Surfer) joins Young Animal for this special one-off issue.
Looks like Gerard Way is back with a special one-off guest artist Michael Allred. I assume this is so the regular team can get on track and deliver a consistent and timely arc. Believe it or not, writers and artists need time to make these things! In any case, I’m glad to have DOOM PATROL back, and I have a feeling that no matter who writes or draws this books, it’s going to be a confusing good time!
