DAREDEVIL #1 Returns Matt Murdock to Hell’s Kitchen This Week!

Writer Charles Soule and artist Ron Garney sure do have a lot of pressure rebooting DAREDEVIL in the post SECRET WARS Marvel universe. Not only has our red clad hero been tackled by the likes of Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis, and Ed Brusker (just to name a few), but this new #1 issue is releasing hot off the heels of the completely amazing Netflix series. If you haven’t watched that yet all I have to say is “whaaaaaaaaaaaaa!?”. Let’s not talk about the Affleck film that I may or may not consider a guilty pleasure of mine. Don’t judge.

That said, DAREDEVIL #1 (2015) sure does look promising. Soule has proven he’s got what it takes to tackle such a big character and Garney’s art looks quite fitting for our street level hero. Stunning perhaps? Keep in mind Soule IS a lawyer himself and he already proved he could tell an accurate and engrossing lawyer-gone-hero story with his work on SHE-HULK. Check out Marvel’s official synopsis for DAREDEVIL #1 to see what’s in store.

Back in black and on his home turf, Daredevil begins again in New York City as a new enemy emerges. Meanwhile his alter ego, Matt Murdock, is on a new side of the law in the District Attorney’s office. Fighting crime in the shadows, prosecuting bad guys in the light, it’s a whole new chapter for our man without fear-including the arrival of the devil’s advocate. Welcome to Hell, Blindspot.

While San Francisco was a fun romp, it will be good seeing Matt Murdock back in action where he belongs…on the filthy streets of Hell’s Kitchen. And while the prospect of Gambit becoming his sidekick filled me with utter glee, alas that must be Blindspot on the cover. Bummer. My eyes decievith me! The silver lining here is that it should be a lot of fun watching Murdock take someone under his wing and try and teach him a thing or two about being a complete bad ass.

DAREDEVIL #1 hits shelves this week!
