Carry On My WAYWARD Volume 2!

Alright I get it. Image Comics has so many damn amazing comic books these days a few get lost in the cracks. Yes in-between your WALKING DEAD, SAGA, LOW, INVINCIBLE, DEADLY CLASS, BLACK SCIENCE, TOOTH & CLAW, EAST OF WEST, PROPHET, and anything LUTHOR STRODE fixes, there are other stellar titles out there to choose from. Add writer Jim Zub and artist Steven Cummings’ WAYWARD to that hefty (and by all means not all inclusive) list mentioned above. Yes, it’s pretty damn good people. In a Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Avatar: The Last Airbender kinda way.

Basically a young woman by the name of Rori Lane is starting fresh moving from Scotland to Japan where she is attempting to reconnect with her mother. And in true comic book fashion, things don’t go so well, magical turtle creatures attack at all angles, Rori discovers some long dormant magical powers, and a gaggle of other magical young ones join the mix. The story is a pretty fun, vibrant, and exciting roller coaster ride that wastes no time getting into the action. It all flows in a mature Saturday morning cartoon kind of way and never lets up. And damn the art is this book is beautiful.

It’s a good time to catch up on volume 1 (issues #1-5) on store shelves now with volume 2 (issues #6-10) landing this week. Here’s what you can expect:

IMAGE’S SUPERNATURAL SENSATION CONTINUES! After the traumatizing finale of volume one, everything has changed for our supernatural teens. Who is Ohara and how does she fit into the great pattern of destiny and power that will change Japan forever?
