Yup...HOWARD THE DUCK is Back.

Like it or not HOWARD THE DUCK is back thanks to the oh so short after-credits sequence in last summer’s smash hit GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Fans really enjoyed that little cameo and of course when Marvel hears that fans like something they pounce at the opportunity to cash in! While I feel Howard’s return isn’t quite justified, I actually kinda like the character and think a book like this could really work. Not to mention offer something refreshing to the Marvel catalog. Let’s see what Marvel has to say about issue #1 hitting shelves this week:

HOT off the pages of the … the post-credits scene at the … the end of a … popular movie … HOWARD THE DUCK is back! Join him as he takes on the weird cases that only a talking duck can crack as the Marvel Universe’s resident private investigator! Let Sex Criminals’ CHIP ZDARSKY (a writer known mostly as an artist) and JOE QUINONES (an artist known mostly as a lover) guide you through his new world as he takes on THE BLACK CAT and MYSTERIOUS FORCES FROM OUTER SPACE! WAUGH!

It’s also pretty interesting to see Chip Zdarsky as writer here after his great artwork in SEX CRIMINALS. And since Zdarsky is focused on telling a funny and cameo-packed story, we have Joe Quinones tackling art duty. The two seem to be a pretty good match here and I for one am looking forward to a balls to the wall comedy set in the Marvel Universe. Bringing Howard back now just may be crazy enough to work!
