Vertigo Launches 12 New Titles Starting This October
For those of you not keeping score at home, Vertigo is DC’s creator-driven imprint that gives writers and artists the ability to do something a little more crazy and a little more weird with their books. There’s also a more mature-rated edge for all you bloodthirsty ruffians! You know who you are! In a sense, it’s a lot like what the whole of Image Comics does…just under the watch of DC (take notes Marvel). This is very much a good thing seeing how books such as AMERICAN VAMPIRE, FBP, ASTRO CITY, and THE SANDMAN: OVERTURE have been published under the Vertigo label and they (along with many others) are pretty damn great.
Well, it appears DC has taken notice of the high quality titles coming from Vertigo lately and is adding 12 new titles this year beginning in October through December so fans have a lot to look forward to.
Beginning in October we will see the release of the supernatural horror story THE TWILIGHT CHILDREN #1 from Gilbert Hernandez and Darwin Cook, the 80′s horror movie inspired SURVIVOR’s CLUB #1 from Lauren Beukes, Dale Halvorsen, and Ryan Kelly, the psychologically mind-bending series CLEAN ROOM #1 from Gail Simone and Jon Davis-Hunt, and the bizarre looking ART OPS from Shaun Simon and Michael Allred that involves people tracking down escaped characters from works of art beginning with Mona Lisa.

November sees the release of UNFOLLOW #1 from Rob Williams and Mike Dowling involving a dying social media mogul dividing up his millions between completely random people, SLASH & BURN #1 from Si Spencer, Max Dunbar, and Ande Parks about a former pyrotechnic turned firefighter, the dark fantasy RED THORN #1 from David Baillie and Meghan Hetrick, and JACKED #1 from Eric Kripke (SUPERNATURAL!!) and John Higgins about people who gain super strength from taking a pill bough online that is already planned as a TV show on USA.

And lastly in December we have the arrival of SHERIFF OF BAGHDAD #1 from Tom Kring and Mitch Gerads about a former Florida cop joining the army after 911, the paranormal Rom-Com NEW ROMANCER #1 from Peter Milligan and Brett Parson about a tech-savy girl creating a Lord Byron replica from a dating profile site, the spiritual murder mystery LUCIFER #1 from Holly Black and Lee Garbett, and LAST GANG IN TOWN from Simon Oliver and Rufus Dayglo (cool name) about a punk gangster in the 1970′s.

The good news is that there’s enough variety in all of the aforementioned titles for us to choose at least one…but hopefully a few starting this October. So get out to your local comic book shop, browse the 2015 preview out this Wednesday, and see all the new things Vertigo has to offer in the months to come.
