Marvel's ANT-MAN Trap Has Been Set!
Marvel sure is a clever little fox these days. It just so happens they released the official trailer for their upcoming ANT-MAN film. It just so happens that a comic book reboot is out this week starring Mr. Lang in the titular role. Hmm. It just so happens, that by my estimates, by the time the film releases this summer the first collected trade paperback should be hitting the stands for eager little fair-weather fans to gobble up. Hmmmm indeed! So will I pick up a copy of ANT-MAN #1 this week!? Hell yeah! Marvel, you’ve foiled me again!
As I’m sure you can imagine, ANT-MAN #1 will be a great jumping-on point for new readers (being #1 and all) and promises to ease newcomers into the world of Ant-Man to avoid any major confusion. Basically, it looks like they are doing exactly what they did for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY when they relaunched not too long ago to coincide with the theatrical release. Take a look at the official synopsis from Marvel to get an idea of what to expect:
Scott Lang has never exactly been the world’s best super hero. Heck, most people don’t even think he’s been the best ANT-MAN – and the last guy invented Ultron and joined the Masters of Evil, so that’s saying something. But when the SUPERIOR IRON MAN calls with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Scott’s going to get a chance to turn it all around and be the hero he’s always dreamed of being. Sure he’s been to prison! Sure he’s been through a messy divorce! Sure he’s been, um… dead. But this time is different! This time nothing is gonna stop the astonishing ANT-MAN!
Sounds pretty fun to me. Writer Nick Spencer will tackle this character hot off the heels of his popular run on THE SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN with artist Ramon Rosanas who you may know from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEADPOOL. Great team-up!
ANT-MAN #1 shrinks onto comic shelves (I don’t even know what that means) this week!
