It’s WEIRDWORLD Wednesday!
Some people absolutely love Marvel’s SECRET WARS event that has frustratingly stretched out its welcome into January 2016. Some people loathe the convolution of an unfinished storyline juxtaposed with a ton of post-event titles launching prematurely. Some people just don’t care. I think I’m somewhere smack dab in the middle of the whole mess. And a big reason for not boycotting Marvel’s irksome release schedule is that amid all the trials there are some amazingly stunning titles such as WEIRDWORLD.
Originating as a five issue mini-series, writer Jason Aaron and artist Mike Del Mundo created something truly special. Following the adventures of the barbarian warrior Arkon, readers are thrust into a wonderful and weird world where nothing is as it seems and you never know what’s around the next corner. The story never missed a beat, never slowed down, and always entertained. And anyone who cracked the book open was immediately mesmerized by Del Mundo’s stunning art. Easily the most beautiful book I’ve read in years. If you missed out on all the shenanigans, you’re in luck. A collected volume is releasing consisting of issues #1-5. Here’s a taste.
Welcome to the wildest, most dangerous corner of Battleworld: Weirdworld, a realm of swords and sorcery, and strange perverted science. If that’s not good enough news for you (and it should be dammit!), WEIRDWORLD #1 (Vol. 2) released this week as well. The creative team as shifted to the equally talented Sam Humphries on writing duty with more of that sweet Mike Del Mundo art love that fans have come to expect. Thank Galactus Del Mundo is still on board. I’m addicted to his style. Here’s what we can expect from the new story arc.

Trust me on this one folks. WEIRDWORLD is a universe you need to visit. There’s no better time to catch up than this week. Awesome stuff.
