Image's ZERO Vol. 1 "AN EMERGENCY" Out Now at a Discount!

Image is fast becoming my favorite publisher standing tall alongside the likes of Marvel and DC. There are so many great creative projects tied to Image Comics these days whether it’s classics such as THE WALKING DEAD and INVINCIBLE, widely popular newcomers such as SAGA, and even some hidden gems such as the LUTHER STRODE Series and PROPHET. In a nutshell, Image seems to cater to the older comic book fan who has been reading a long time and thirsts for more mature content without any real filter. Yoda would probably say “Comics for your kids these are not.” Enter ZERO, one of the latest and greatest projects to be birthed out of Image’s spectacularly creative womb.

The plot synopsis here is pretty quick and dirty and Image says it best: “Edward Zero was the best spy the Agency had—and then he realized he was working for the wrong side.” Without spoiling much, it’s really a great spy drama full of violence, profanity, sex, and action. Writer Ales Kot (CHANGE) really has a knack for throwing you into his universe and story creatively tying each chapter to the next.

Besides the storytelling here, the beauty behind ZERO is that each issue is drawn by a completely new artist. Issues #1-5 are complied in the first collected volume titled ZERO: Vol. 1 AN EMERGENCY and includes main art by Michael Walsh (COMEBACK), Tradd Moore (LUTHER STRODE), Mateus Santolouco (DIAL H), Morgan Jeske (CHANGE), and Will Tempest. Each artist has a beautiful and stylistically unique take on the story. An interesting consistency to note is that Jordie Bellaire (DEADPOOL) serves as the colorist for all of the issues here. I think this was a wise choice and really ties things together nicely.

If all this hasn’t convinced you that ZERO is worth checking out just yet, ZERO: Vol. 1 AN EMERGENCY retails for just $9.99 and is sitting on the comic book shelf as you read this just waiting to be flipped through! So go on and get!
