Get Caught Up with John Barber and Tom Scioli's TRANSFORMERS VS. G.I. JOE
Hey you! Yeah you! You like TRANSFORMERS and/or G.I. JOE correct? Possibly both!? Me too! Well, if you haven’t heard, writer John Barber and artist Tom Scioli have teamed up to bring you the comic book your inner child has been begging for in the form of TRANSFORMERS VS. G.I.JOE and it’s a sight to behold. It’s truly amazing stuff that rests on a whole new level of awesome than you may be used to. In plain English, it’s damn good.
Anyone who has read the title of the comic book or has half a brain can guess what this book is about. You guessed it…the Transformers are in battle with the Joes. Sure I could go into details about how and why they are fighting, but instead I think you should just just read this book and find out on your own because it’s pretty fun stuff. Keep in mind that this on-going title exists in it’s own universe so all of you fence sitters who haven’t read a Transformers or Joe book in ages can rest easy and just dive right in. Barber’s writing style here is pure Saturday morning goodness perfectly complimented by the Kirby-inspired art echoing the Silver Age of comics by the wonderfully talented and imaginative Scioli. This book has some of the most colorful, creative, and memorable panels in recent history.
The good news here is that there have only been 5 issues released so far in the form of an issue #0 given out last Free Comic Book Day (and arguably the best issue yet!) and issues #1-4 proper which you can likely still find on store shelves now. If not, this week marks the first release of the collected Volume 1 which included everything mentioned above! SO yeah, if the issues are not on the store shelf, get that collected volume now!
