BATMAN and SUPERMAN and GREEN ARROW! Oh My!
I understand that DC rebooting all of their books yet again may cause some frustration. A kind of ‘here we go again’ feeling that possibly keeps you from reading any of the books at all. I get it, I’ve been there. Let me assure anyone reading this that the new DC “Rebirth” initiative is completely readable and very welcome to new and veteran readers. After years of pretty much only reading BATMAN books, I’m happy to say I read a lot of DC books now thanks to the “Rebirth” reboot. The characters are iconic, the stories are epic, and the writing and art is some of the best I’ve seen from DC in a long time. So pick some of your favorite characters, maybe try one or two new ones, and have fun in the DC Universe again!
When each and every DC book gets relaunched simultaneously, things can get a bit overwhelming. I mean, you only have so many dollars to spend. This week we see the release of arguably my favorite 3 titles so far in the form of BATMAN, SUPERMAN, and GREEN ARROW. All are at issue #11, and all have been really great and captivating stories so far. All 3 are highly recommended. And a shout out goes to RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS that would likely take out BATMAN in my top 3 if I was completely honest. But the below 3 offerings out this week are all great.
BATMAN #11
(written by Tom King / Art by Mikel Janin)
‘I am Suicide’ part three! Plunging into the belly of the beast, Batman and his team of misfits infiltrate Santa Prisca. Betrayal and savagery unfold as Batman races to steal Bane’s prized possession and not everyone will make it out alive.
SUPERMAN #11
(written by Peter J. Tomasi, Patrick Gleason / Art by Patrick Gleason, Mick Gray)
'IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER’ part two! Superman and Batman are up against the ropes, and it’s up to Superboy and Robin to save the day- but can they work together long enough to get the job done?
GREEN ARROW #11
(Written by Ben Percy / Art by Juan Ferreyra)
MURDER ON THE EMPIRE EXPRESS’ part two! There’s no business like the war business, and business is booming-or it will be once the world learns of the brutal assassination of one of its most critical leaders at the hands of Green Arrow?! Trapped with a killer hundreds of feet below the ocean, Oliver Queen must solve a murder before his undersea voyage ends-and with it, peace in our time.
Keep in mind, these are only 3 great books coming out of DC “Rebirth” and are being featured here because they are all releasing this week. There are a lot of others that you may enjoy more. Do yourself a favor, give “Rebirth” a chance and pick up a few titles this month. I have a feeling you won’t regret it.
