Why Aren't you Reading COPPERHEAD!?

I’m a bold man. As such, I’m going to say that COPPERHEAD is one of the, if not THE, best new Image Comic book to release this year. Yes, it’s that good.

COPPERHEAD is written by Jay Faerber and illustrated by Scott Godlewski along with colorist Ron Riley crafting one of the best overall comic book experiences in recent memory. If you are anything like me, you love a good Sci-fi story and a good Western action Adventure. Well, with COPPERHEAD you get the best of both worlds in the vein of something like FIREFLY. That’s a good thing!

COPPERHEAD tells the tale of a mysterious single mom (to a young boy) who becomes the new sheriff of the small little town on a planet far far away. There is an air of mystery surrounding her arrival to Copperhead that will surely be fun to explore as the series goes on. Is she on the run? Is she looking for someone? Hiding from someone? Who knows, but Faerber reveals just enough in each issue so far to keep you guessing.

This book is mysterious, captivating, full of action, full of alien races and cool tech, and is so beautifully drawn that I would be purchasing this book for the art alone. The setting is dusty and grimy, feels like a classic Western, has most of what I love about good Sci-fi, and just has a beautiful color palette and overall tone.

Issues #1 and #2 have already been released with issue #3 landing this week. It’s not too late to catch up on COPPERHEAD and then you can tell all your friends about a cool new book they aren’t reading and take all the credit. In the meantime…you’re welcome.
