Tons of Great Batman Comics to Choose From This Week!
Batman is pretty much everywhere these days. He’s on TV, he’s in feature films, he’s starring in awesome animated adventures, he’s in multiple video games, and of course he’s in a boatload of comic books! This week see’s the release of 3 very unique Batman books that are definitely worth your attention.
BATMAN #34
Batman is on a quest in the desert, far from his Gotham City home. His friends and allies think he’s gone crazy, and his mission puts him far outside the law. Waiting for him at the center of the chaos is an old enemy… and plenty of old demons.
The main ongoing Batman book from writer Tom King is a good jumping on point for new and/or returning fans. If you could choose just one Batman book to dive into, this would be my recommendation for sure. It includes just about everything I look for in a Batman book.
BATMAN: WHITE KNIGHT #2
Public support for Batman dwindles and Gotham City’s 99 percent rally around ex-Joker Jack Napier’s crusade to expose decades of corruption within the GCPD. A proposition inspires new revelations about Harley and The Joker’s past; and as Jack transforms into a hero of the middle class and takes extreme measures to mobilize a revolutionary army of super-villains, Bruce struggles to stay focused on engineering a technological breakthrough to save Alfred.
DC has given Artist/writer Sean Murphy free rein over Batman allowing him to create this unique take on Gotham and its inhabitants. This mini-series is definitely worth a read for those not committed to taking on an ongoing book. Highly recommended.
BATMAN: THE DEVASTATOR #1 (Part of the METAL mini-series)
As the events of DARK NIGHTS: METAL rock the DC Universe, the creatures of the Dark Multiverse stand ready to invade our world! How can the World’s Greatest Heroes stop a horde of deadly beings that appear to be powerful nightmare versions of familiar figures? Find out in these special tie-in issues!
DC’s current METAL mini-series is definitely changing the DC landscape. If you’re not getting enough Batman action in the main mini-series, this is a good place to get your fix.
At the end of the day, the good news is that there is no shortage of Batman comic books out there. Sure it can be a little daunting to dive into a new book, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a shot. And if none of the options above sound good, you can always sniff out a trade paperback collected volume.
