THE WOLVERINE International Movie Trailer

Fans of Marvel’s Wolverine (everyone?) and the X-Men film franchise now have something to get excited about because the first official trailer has hit the web. Hugh Jackman (THE PRESTIGE) returns as our favorite berserker with James Mangold (WALK THE LINE) behind the camera with directing duties. Something interesting to note here is that the film, simply titled THE WOLVERINE, actually serves as a sequel to the film franchise instead of a prequel story that most had anticipated. While this may be a letdown to longtime fans of Frank Miller’s run on Wolverine, it is an interesting choice for the film universe. While most will be seeing a domestic trailer attached to films this weekend, the international trailer proves to be a bit more interesting offering us a better glimpse as to what is to come (especially with the film's villain!). Check out the official plot synopsis along with the action packed international trailer below to see for yourself.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.

Alright then. This looks like it could be fun. It most definitely looks a lot more fun than 2009’s X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. That doesn’t say much though. I will admit I like the tie-ins to the other films and hope that, at least in an after-credits scene, we get a tie-in to next summer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. We will just have to be patient and see. Looks good so far.

THE WOLVERINE opens July 26th 2013
