THE WALKING DEAD #162 Concludes “The Whisperer War”Arc!
While we are on a mid-season break from AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD, now is the perfect time to go visit your local comic book shop and catch up on the series that started it all. Yes, the comic book is still going strong, and yes it is much better than the TV show.
The latest arc in the series has the gang (what’s left of them anyhow) up against a threat unlike anything they’ve faced before. Basically, there are a group of weirdos out there in this post-apocalyptic wonderland that like to dress up in zombie skin and lurk around whispering to one another. Creepy right!? Yes, yes they are and their presence in the latest issues of the book have made it a damn fun read. And all the events in the past 5 issues of this arc lead me to believe that this 6th installment is going to be pretty nuts and change the landscape of the series for good.
And for those of you worried that the book may spoil the TV show or the other way around, fear not. At this point the TV show does borrow some big events from the books, but they are two very different types of beast. I can safely say that both the comic book and TV show are pretty much unpredictable. I enjoy both iterations and am constantly surprised by both.
Well done if you keep up with this series with each standalone issue or through buying the trade paperback collections. If not, don’t fret. You can hop on over to the shop and start collecting the series in trade paperback form. The series is great, the collections are affordable, and I really want to have someone to talk to about all the latest events going on. Even at issue #162, THE WALKING DEAD is still one of the best books on shelves.
