STAR WARS: POE DAMERON #1 Lands This Week!
Like many, I was pretty skeptical when I learned that Marvel was going to reset their novel and comic book canon completely labeling everything that came before as a “Legends” title. I can see why this would ruffle the feathers of any longterm diehard fan, but you have to admit it was all getting a bit muddled and was due for a refresh. After over a year of Marvel’s new books, I can safely say it was a fantastic move.
Enter POE DAMERON, a brand new ongoing series set prior to THE FORCE AWAKENS starring our favorite X-Wing Pilot. This is uncharted territory in the revamped timeline and is definitely something to look forward to. Here’s a bit of what to expect.

Hand-picked for the resistance by General Leia Organa to lead a squadron on a top secret and vital mission…Poe sets off investigating sites of historical importance to the Force. Revealing backstory leading directly into the holidays’ greatest adventure, follow Poe and his X-Wing squadron on covert missions against the First Order brought to you by writer Charles Soule (Star Wars: Lando, Daredevil) and artist Phil Noto (Star Wars: Chewbacca, Black Widow)!
I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t get enough of Poe in THE FORCE AWAKENS and I am more than ready to witness some of his earlier adventures as Princess Leia sends him across the galaxy in search of information about the Force. And who knows, maybe that opening scene will make more sense as we read this book. Either way, any universe building surrounding our new heroes is something fans need as we wait for the next installment.
Writer Charles Soule has already tackled the fantastic LAND mini-series and is in the midst of the equally enjoyable OBI-WAN & ANAKIN mini-series. It we be great to see him settle into an ongoing series as he has proved he has a solid handle on this universe. And Phil Noto charmed us with his work on the CHEWBACCA mini-series and his return is welcome. In short, I like this team up.
