Peter Milligan’s Weird and Erotic THE DISCIPLINE #1 Lands This Week

Image Comics sure isn’t afraid to put out edgy and/or controversial books. Sure we get some gruesomely violent and volatile books such as THE WALKING DEAD, TOKYO GHOST , and anything with the word “Strode” in it, but there are also books such as SEX CRIMINALS and SEX that stand out as risqué in all the right ways. Oh, and let’s not forget SAGA that has all the above and manages to be one of the (if not THE) most popular book on shelves today. My point is, Image takes risks with their creators and this weeks release of THE DISCIPLINE continues that trend.

While originally planned as a DC book under their more edgy “Vertigo” label, something went awry and it found its way to Image. I bet this was a bit more edgy than DC wanted it to be hence the shift over to Image. Probably a good move if you ask me. THE DISCIPLINE is written by Peter Milligan (X-Statix) with art from Leandro Fernandez (Queen & Country). Here’s an idea of what to expect along with a preview image from…err…Image.

Between fighting her sister and hating her husband, Melissa still finds time to fall in lust with a stranger who’s an awful lot more than he seems. What appears to be a simple seduction is revealed as something much darker and more dangerous. This controversial and erotically-charged tale of sex, death, and metamorphosis begins with an explosion of carnality and weirdness.

You know when a plot synopsis say “falls in lust” things are going to get a little erotic and when you see a big ass monster claw grabbing a woman with her shirt popping off things are likely to get a little bit weird too. These are all good things and I look forward to seeing if Image has another hit on their hands.

THE DISCIPLINE #1 lusts onto store shelves this week.
