Looks Like Tony Stark is Heading for Space in IRON MAN #6

The MARVEL NOW! relaunch for IRON MAN has been met with mixed reviews by fans due to a familiar “been there, done that” story arc within the first four out of five issues so far. The fifth and final arc of the current arc is due out tomorrow, Wednesday January 2nd 2013. While I have had some fun with the arc so far, it wouldn’t hurt to mix things up a bit more with the character and have Marvel take some risks. Well, it looks like my Marvel wishes are going to come true soon enough because Tony Stark/Iron Man is heading for space and the series will venture into a bold new direction.

Here’s what Marvel has to say about this new and promising story arc:

This February, Tony Stark soars into space in your first look at Iron Man #6, kicking off the all-new arc “God-Killer” by the blockbuster creative team of writer Kieron Gillen and artist Greg Land! Suit up for an all-new, all-different direction for the Armored Avenger as he’s branded guilty for a crime he didn’t know he committed! Just when he thought the events of Avengers VS. X-Men and the seeming death of the Phoenix Force was in the rear view mirror – Iron Man’s first trip into space with his new suit of armor may end in the flames that he thought were extinguished! As part of Marvel NOW!, Iron Man continues to be a part of a line of titles that are taking the Marvel Universe in an exciting all-new direction, as the industry’s top creators join the top Super Heroes to deliver all-new ongoing series, great for new and lapsed readers alike!

As a “lapsed” reader, I do look forward to this new arc and will continue my journey with Tony Stark as he ventures into space and confronts what’s left of the Pheonix Force. I also dig the new space costume! Here’s a look at the first few pages!

IRON MAN #6 launches into comic stores on February 6th 2012!
