Get Ready for the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Onslaught!
If you’re anything like me, you are beyond excited for Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY film due out in theaters August 1st 2014. All the trailers and press for this film look stunning and I simply cannot wait to see Star Lord in action alongside his ragtag team of aliens and creatures. For those of you doing the “potty dance” in anticipation, do yourself a favor and head on over to your local comic shop to get your fix until the big show! Trust me, NOW is the perfect time to get all caught up with this franchise.
In case you missed it, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY went through a reboot of sorts when writer Brian Michael Bendis brought the franchise back via the MARVEL NOW! initiative. And it has been just as fun as Bendis’ other big Marvel book ALL-NEW X-MEN. They even crossed paths once in the excellent “Trial of Jean Grey” story arc.
Well, now that the film is on the horizon, it looks like Marvel is gearing up to ride the wave as long as it can. Besides Bendis’ current run of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY proper which now is at issue #16, fans can seek out 3 new titles starting this week featuring all your favorite GALAXY characters. Here’s a rundown along with brief plot synopsis for the newest titles hitting shelves this week:
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: GALAXYS MOST WANTED
Rocket Raccoon and Groot-your favorite cosmic bounty hunters (and soon to be world-famous movie stars)-leap into action in an all-new adventure! Could it possibly happen? Is Groot attempting to arrest his best bud Rocket? Plus: Reprinting THOR #314, featuring the Thunder God in cosmic combat with the mean, green Guardian known as Drax!
LEGENDARY STAR LORD #1
From the pages of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY! A brand new series from SAM HUMPHRIES and PACO MEDINA! In this exciting first issue, Peter Quill battles the Badoon, fights to save an orphanage, and still finds time for some flirting with Kitty Pryde–but it’s all in a day’s work for the STAR-LORD!
ROCKET RACCOON #1 (vol. 2)
