Gabriel Rodriguez’s SWORD OF AGES is Worth a Look This Week
Anyone who’s read Joe Hill’s LOCKE & KEY is familiar with artist Gabriel Rodriguez. He’s an amazing talent and when I saw he was attached to this science fiction meet fantasy epic I just knew it would be a book to look out for.
A mythic origin story you never expected to see! This winter, the Sword will be drawn for the first time ever, courtesy of writer/artist/Locke & Key co-creator Gabriel Rodriguez in a five-issue miniseries adventure of epic proportions! A young woman will become the first wielder of the most famous sacred weapon of all time to champion for her world’s survival, inspiring a legion of heroes to join her struggle against a merciless alien force. The line between science fiction and magic might get fuzzy, but the line between heroes and villains will be drawn in blood. Bullet points: * Alien worlds! The sacred sword! Brave knights and horrific demons! * The legendary sword is first drawn here!
I’m super nerdy so I’m intrigued by this sci-fi fantasy story. I can imagine some may be weary by all the familiar tropes, but I can assure you the art will be worth the price of admission alone. I stumbled upon a preview issue for this series awhile back and was floored by how gorgeous the art was. At the very least, SWORD OF AGES will be a feat for the eyes. And there’s a talking tiger. So that’s cool.
Be sure to check out issue #1 of the five-part series this week.
