FROM UNDER MOUNTAINS #1 Is Worth a Look This Week
I think it’s safe to say if Image is putting out a new #1 issue for a brand new series it’s at least worth a little sniff. Pretty much all the books put out by Image are creator owned and they are responsible for publishing some of the most beautiful and amazing projects in the current age of comics. SAGA, THE WALKING DEAD, INVINCIBLE, and LOW just to name a few. I could gush all day. Instead, I’d like to introduce one of their new books called FROM UNDER MOUNTAINS. Written by Marian Churchland (8HOUSE) and Claire Gibson with art from Sloane Leong.
FROM UNDER MOUNTAINS will be an ongoing comic that is sure to please all you Throners out there thirsting for some good old fashion fantasy mixed with a dash of political intrigue (as if there IS such a thing) with all your favorite icons including knights, witches, beasts, and those people that are not strong enough to be knights, but too cunning to be a grunt…oh yeah, thieves. Yes this book looks to be jam packed with all your favorite fantasy elements. Here’s what Image has to say about the premiere issue:
In the first issue of this new fantasy series, old feuds and new monsters rise up to haunt the isolated northern fortress of Karsgate.
Sounds cool to me. While that synopsis may be short, I can tell you the main story takes place in an isolated land called Akhara where rival houses struggle for dominance both politically and militaristically.

This is definitely a book you need to seek out this week at your local comic book shop. All signs point to FROM UNDER MOUNTAINS being a pretty sweet read.
