DEATH OF WOLVERINE (for now) is Upon Us!

Hey remember when Superman was killed and it was a huge event! Oh, wait, remember when Captain America died and it made national news! Oh Oh Oh, remember when Human Torch died!? You don’t!? Wait did that happen? Alright, I suppose what I’m getting at is that all of those deaths have one minor thing in common…they all come back to life in classic comic book fashion sooner or later. And even though the hype building up for the impending death of Wolverine is upon us, I doubt it’s going to last long. If you’re going to kill a big character, just do it out of nowhere and surprise the hell out of all of us. Don’t put aside a mini-series event to pull it off. Tacky business Marvel…tacky business.

Like it or not, Wolverine is the latest hero to get the death sentence in the form of a 4-part mini-series that will be releasing once a week starting on September 3rd and concluding (with said death sequence) 3 weeks later on September 24th. The series will be written by Charles Soule with art by Steve McNiven.

Not a lot is know about the exact plot besides the fact that Wolverine will lose his healing factor for some reason and be put up against a villain that will ultimately kill him ending his 100+ years on this planet. Until he is resurrected of course. I’m putting my money on a few months since the man is in just about every X-book and Avengers title in existence. While his demise will likely not last long, it will be nice to have him exit the scene for awhile paving the way for all the other (and mostly more interesting) heroes in the Marvel universe. Don’t get me wrong, Wolverine is alright, but he’s no Scott Summers (drops mic and walks away….).

DEATH OF WOLVERINE #1 releases September 3rd 2014.
