DARTH MAUL Mini-Series Starts This Week!

Marvel’s STAR WARS comics have been absolutely amazing since the franchise canon was reset. While Marvel has mostly been exploring the time between A NEW HOPE and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, every once in awhile they dip into uncharted territory expanding the universe. This week sees the release of DARTH MAUL #1 which will be a 5-part mini-series set just before the events of THE PHANTOM MENACE.

Bred on hate, fear, and anger, steeped in the ways of darkness and trained to kill. Darth Maul’s time as apprentice to Darth Sidious has long been cloaked in shadows, but at last we will reveal his tale of revenge. From writer Cullen Bunn (DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE, WOLVERINE) and artist Luke Ross (STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, HERCULES) comes a tale of rage unleashed as Darth Maul prepares for his first encounter with the Jedi.

Anytime Marvel goes out of their original trilogy “safe zone” I get extremely happy. Of course the original trilogy is the best little slice of STAR WARS timeline, but I’m still interested in all the other eras whether it be during the prequel trilogy, after the original trilogy, and even pre-prequel. I’m really excited to dive far back in time with this new series. It’s the furthest back we have gone since the new cannon began. Good to see Marvel not afraid to tackle a prequel trilogy character. They are important films full of amazing characters. And Maul is simply one of the coolest villains the universe has ever seen.
