DAREDEVIL: END OF DAYS Miniseries Finally Heading to Store Shelves

Anyone out there remember the Daredevil Miniseries announced back in 2007 called DAREDEVIL: END OF DAYS that was never released? If so, you’re in luck because it looks like the project is back in business and was recently re-revealed at a Marvel press conference. The 8 part miniseries chronicles the death of Matt Murdock/Daredevil by one of his many foes and reports thus far suggest the series will take place roughly 10 years in the future.

Brian Michael Bendis (ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN) has always been attached to write the project and is still on board with the help of David Mack (KABUKI). Klaus Jansen (BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS) and Bill Sienkiewicz (ELECTRA: ASSASSIN) are the main artists with Alex Maleev (DAREDEVIL vol. 2) doing cover art.

Here is what Bendis himself had to say about the upcoming project:

“This takes place in the not-too-distant future and we get to see what the Marvel Universe may look like,” Bendis continues, “In the vein of Daredevil, it’s a more realistic future. In the very first issue, some very large things happen, including Daredevil’s very public murder, which sends Ben Urich on his final assignment, once again telling the story of Matt Murdock.”

Jansen adds:

“We see almost every character who has been associated with Daredevil through the years as well.”

I have to say that I am pretty excited to see what characters will show up in this arc. Electra? Kingpin? Bullseye? The Punisher? Who knows! I am also excited to read an arc where the creators really have no limits to what they can do. It seems like a lot of creative energy is being thrown at this project and you can bet we are going to see a darker and more violent story arc than what current fans are use to.

Daredevil fans who have been eagerly awaiting this project can rest easy because issue #1 of 8 is due sometime in October of 2012.
