CABLE Returns This Week!

Marvel’s relaunch for the current X-books are pretty fun so far and I’ve been impatiently waiting for the new ongoing book starring everyone’s favorite time-hopper Cable. This week sees the release of CABLE #1 from writer James Robinson and artist Carlos Pacheco! 

WALK SOFTLY…AND CARRY A BIG GUN! CABLE sees the mighty mutant return on a brand-new mission…with all of time in the balance! When Cable picks up the trail of a threat in the timestream, he sets off on a high-speed, history-spanning chase to save reality as we know it. From prehistory to modern day, whether it’s a six-gun duel at high noon or a high-tech sword fight in an ancient land, Cable is the only man who can keep history from unraveling! 

One of my biggest gripes with the current crop of X-books is all the hopping around through time and bringing in various versions of our favorite heroes. In the mainstream current timeline Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Beast, and Angel are all their younger versions thanks to the doofus that is Blue-Beast. And Wolverine is now Old Man Logan thanks to SECRET WARS. And I’m sure there are many other examples, but my brain just can’t keep track. Spider-Gwen is cool.

My point here is that no matter what happens to the Marvel Universe as a whole, Cable is always cool and he always makes sense. He’s a pro when it comes to jumping through time and it will be very interesting to see what Marvel has up their sleeve for the man. I think it’s safe to say that his presence in DEADPOOL 2 will keep him front and center in the X-books for a good while. And I’m totally cool with that.
